Fear of losing?
The purpose of greatness is to give others a raise. Sometimes when people come in power they use their authority to crush those who oppose them. This is simply because they do not want their greatness to be challenged in fear of losing it.
In the modern era people kill others by badmouthing, gossiping or tarnishing others reputations.
We see king David doing the opposite, when he came in power he wanted to show kindness to his enemies, he could have killed but look at his response.
II Samuel 9:3,6-7 NKJV
Then the king said, “Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, to whom I may show the kindness of God?” And Ziba said to the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan who is lame in his feet.
Now when Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, had come to David, he fell on his face and prostrated himself. Then David said, “Mephibosheth?” And he answered, “Here is your servant!” So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.
David was not insecure, he spoke to Mephibosheth, extended his hand of friendship and restored back to him his fathers land.
Jesus taught us to bless our enemies and intercede for them. Each one of us will get an opportunity to become great. So, what will be our response?
